This course aims to give fundamental knowledge of Jyotiṣa-śāstra for beginners. It will cover important topics of all three skandha-s (i.e. Siddhānta, Saṃhitā and Horā) of Jyotiśśāstra. This course will emphasize the calculation of the paṇcāṇga, concept of grahaṇa, sankrānti, udayāstamaya, and grahayuti from Siddhānta skandha; muhūrta, bhūkampalakṣaṇa, dakārgala, and sāmānya vāstu from Saṃhitā skandha; and the zodiac (rāśi-s) and the planets (graha-s), essential yoga-s needed for the prediction (phalādeśa), and the gocara phala vicāra from Horā skandha.
Hence, this course will provide a strong platform to students for further study and research in this vedaṅga śāstra. Apart from that, the course will also give adequate knowledge to the students to understand other Indic texts that contain references to Jyotiśa śāstra.
