This course is offered as a Core Course for the 4-year Integrated B.A.B.Ed. English
students. The present syllabus focuses on teaching student teachers the importance of
curriculum construction, principles followed in constructing the curriculum, National and
State boards’ contribution to curriculum construction, textbook designing and review of the
curriculum. The second module deals with the position of the English language, policies of
language education and constitutional provisions. The third module includes language
acquisition and language learning theories. The fourth module deals with understanding the
importance of content knowledge. Student teachers will be familiarised with the content of
the secondary school curriculum and critically analyse various genres of English literature.
