This course complements the ‘Functional English-1’ and ‘Functional English-2’ courses offered to Integrated Master’s students in the first and second semesters. It is a practical component for the language elements discussed in both these courses. The focus of this course is specifically to practise and hence improve the language skills of speaking, listening and reading. Special emphasis is laid on communication within real-life contexts. At the end of this course, learners should be able to use and understand common phrases and metaphors in the English language, avoid any characteristics of their speech that prevent a listener from comprehending what they are saying, and read and speak in a manner that is clear and engaging.
