This course is an essential component of any post-graduate programme. When an individual decides to pursue higher study of any kind, he or she needs certain tools to perform inquiry that is integral to that higher study. These constitute the “toolbox” for the student to go out on his or her own in the world of reading, writing, and performing research. This course is designed to provide specific tools for students in the area of Indic Knowledge Traditions to give students a strong grounding in theoretical frameworks with which to approach their subject, as well as exposure to a hands-on practical application using the tool of their choice. Students will learn to inquire into the world they live in, while at the same time learning to inquire into themselves, challenging their own preconceived notions and updating them according to their growing body of research​  ​ methods​  ​ and​  ​ tools.

Course​  ​ Objectives: 

This​  ​ course​  ​ seeks​  ​ to   

1. Build a conceptual understanding of the key ideas, tools, and models involved in Research Methodology and Theory, especially as it applies to Indic​  ​ Knowledge​  ​ Traditions. 

2. Train students in the skills and tools required to answer their own research​  ​ questions.  

3. Prepare​  ​ students​  ​ for​  ​ research-based​  ​ jobs​  ​ and​  ​ vocations. 

4. Develop in students skills and knowledge that will challenge their previously held worldviews and initiate cultural shift or change at the individual​ level.
